  • Head of Sales

    £ Competitive salary, full time

    Location: Royston, UK

    Focusing on Productizing Science®, Blacktrace group designs, develops and manufactures truly innovative, premium quality scientific products. Our instruments are used for many scientific and commercial applications including Biology, Chemistry, Biotech research and scientific discovery. We sell to a wide range of international markets via leading brands including Syrris, Dolomite and Dolomite Bio.

    Job Specification

    The Head of Sales will report into the Chief Commercial Officer and will be responsible for overseeing global sales activities for Blacktrace. Located at UK site, the Head of Sales will manage a team based both in UK and in regional sales offices globally.

    Key Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

        • Growing sales for Blacktrace globally and maximising Company profit;
        • Overseeing and managing the distribution channels globally;
        • Setting activity and revenue targets for all members of the Sales team (including distribution partners);
        • Responsibility for the smooth operation of the Regional Sales offices;
        • Management reporting to Chief Commercial Officer and Blacktrace Group Senior Management Team on sales performance against set budget;
        • Accurately forecasting future sales and forming sales plans to adapt to constant shifts in the marketplace;
        • Identifying key areas of improvement in the sales process;
        • Forming sales strategies to keep the Company competitive and innovative.
        • Managing, leading and motivating a Sales team, including Regional Managers and Internal Sales team, to achieve ambitious targets;
        • Identifying valuable emerging markets;
        • Supporting the recruitment and selection for the Sales team alongside HR;
        • Driving proactive sales initiatives (such as workshops, roadshows, account management, etc.) and attending industry events and conferences to generate new business leads;
        • Continuous training and development of all members of the Sales team;

    Skills and Qualifications:

        • Previous experience successfully managing sales teams ideally from a similar scientific industry;
        • Strong leadership and skills and ability to inspire sales teams;
        • Proven track record of achieving targets and driving sales growth in a business;
        • Strong, demonstrable client-facing skills;
        • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with strong planning and negotiation skills;
        • Enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to cover a range of tasks;
        • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
        • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task;
        • The ideal candidate will have a degree qualification from a scientific or engineering discipline;
        • Professional sales training would be a strong advantage.

  • Product Marketing Executive

    Job Specification

    The purpose of this role is to take ownership of defined positioning for specified product portfolio; execute marketing plan developed with support from Head of Marketing.

    The Product Marketing Executive will be responsible for ensuring go-to-market strategy for product portfolio is accurately reflected through website and across channels. Key to success in this role is a clear understanding of both the products and the market. The successful candidate will:

        • Use both qualitative and quantitative data to inform your decisions, some of which you may have collected yourself with help and guidance from both the Product Manager and Head of Marketing.
        • Work with the Head of Marketing to define messaging and campaigns and work with other marketers to ensure the execution is both consistent and timely, while being hands-on yourself.
        • Engage with influencers and execute communications and content strategy that positions your brand/products accordingly; you won’t be afraid of writing and will have the drive and determination to see plans through to completion.
        • Report on progress monthly, including progress towards targets agreed with Head of Marketing.

    Key Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

        • Product chain with a good understanding of the product line and relevant applications in industry and academia
        • Understand go-to-market strategy and ensure this is reflected on website and through activity
        • Familiarity with customer journey and understand relevance of activity to each stage.
        • Regularly check and update competitor positioning, informing key stakeholders of any changes.
        • Identify key personas and share with relevant people (sales, product, design); validate through semi-regular conversations with customers
        • Define messaging that resonates with key personas, with the support of Head of Marketing and Product Manager
        • Design campaigns that meet business objectives and work with Head of Marketing to agree details and set goals and targets. Work with others in marketing and design to ensure timely execution; be prepared to source or contribute content; communicate with sales about campaign activity and set expectations; gather feedback from sales
        • Work with events marketing to ensure message is reflected at physical events (conferences, workshops, roadshows) through booth, experience, literature, and speaking sessions; support post event activity by ensuring any relevant nurturing is set up.
        • Execute content marketing plan and understand where/how you’ll get content; execute an engaging communications plan from PR and editorial through to blogging, social media, and video (incl. scripting)
        • Write case studies, blogs and contribute content to the relevant communities; ensure digital marketing has content necessary for successful and engaging activity/campaigns.
        • Identify and engage influencers; understand how they can work with Blacktrace in different capacities (content, speaking, research, product input)
        • Work with sales, including distributors where relevant, to ensure all necessary collateral is produced, including materials for both internal and external use; provide sales tools, such as battlecards and competitor positioning, based on info provided by product managers, sales, and your own research
        • Other activities deemed relevant and in support of marketing or the business

    Skills and Qualifications:

        • Ability and willingness to work across functions
        • Qualitative and quantitative research techniques
        • Comfortable working with data and happy reporting against targets
        • Outstanding communication skills, both spoken and written; copywriting and ability and willingness to write
        • Understanding of marketing channels, both online and offline, and how they work together
        • Data driven
        • Customer centric
        • Planning with ability to multi-task and balance priorities
        • A background in sciences or experience in a scientific industry, would be a distinct advantage (although is not a requirement)

  • Production Technician

    Due a rapid period of growth, we are now looking for a motivated, bright and organized Production Technician to join the Operations team, reporting to the Production Manager.

    Job Specification

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

    • Assembly of electro-mechanical products
    • Test to specification
    • Record build issues to ensure our products are continuously improved
    • Inventory control
    • Prepare orders for despatch
    • Update build and test documentation
    • Cost reduction projects on existing products
    • Fault diagnostics and repair

     

    Skills required:

    • Experience in electro-mechanical assembly and test
    • High level of accuracy
    • Excellent Attention to detail
    • Good numeracy
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel
    • Ability to work independently and in a team
    • Experience to work with engineering drawings
    • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and organized
    • Ability to prioritize is essential

  • Scientific Laboratory Technician - Part-time, temporary role

Our instruments are used for many scientific and commercial applications including Biology, Chemistry, Biotech research and scientific discovery. We sell to a wide range of international markets via leading brands including Syrris, Dolomite Microfluidics, and Dolomite Bio.

    Dolomite Bio develops cutting-edge premium microfluidic equipment for high throughput single cell applications, such as single-cell RNA sequencing, isolating antibody coding sequence libraries, and directed evolution by droplet sorting.

    Job Specification

    This is a junior position, reporting into the Head of Dolomite Bio, which combines both administrative and shipping duties, and support duties in a scientific laboratory. It will be a busy and varied role; the ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible to meet changing requirements.The role will be available on part-time, temporary basis, 3 hours per day, 3 days per week over a 12-week period. These arrangements are flexible and would be revised as and when required, based on the business need.

    Key Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    • Preparing hardware and reagents for shipment
    • Preparing documentation for shipment
    • Managing the shipping calendar
    • Coordinating shipments with the Order Fulfilment department
    • Recording and presenting data
    • Assisting with ordering and controlling stock
    • Managing availability of units for external activity.

     

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Proven ability to understand, follow and convey technical instructions
    • Competent in basic skills associated with a Biological/ Clinical Laboratory
    • Familiarity with the use of pipettes to manipulate small volumes of liquids (microlitres) would be an advantage
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Excellent organizational skills and diligence
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Pro-active approach
    • A graduate qualification in a scientific discipline would be beneficial but is not essential.
